Dear readers.
Thanks for dropping by. Finally, back to story telling time. Its been a few months since the last time I share my wedding photography experience. This time, is a bit special. 3 years ago, we were the wedding photographer for this one particular lovely and one of the most grateful bride I have ever encounter. And last few months I received a call from her saying that her sister needs a wedding photographer. And I gladly and happilly accept it.
What was sad is that this time, the lovely daddy is no longer here anymore. Unfortunately the father has passed away. But nonetheless, it was a lovely and memorable wedding day.
The morning started at the groom's house for some groom getting ready and putting on the suit shots. And what not, a family portrait session.
This time instead of the traditional not looking at camera, I simply ask the groom to smile at the camera and the photo turned out even more pleasant.
Then we head over to St. Regale Hotel at The Gardens. It was a good experience and a lovely hotel to get married in.
This time instead of photographing the wedding gown that is hung, we ask the bride to hold it up instead. It brings the feeling of connection.
The bride's sister who got married 3 years ago now has a lovely baby girl. Until today, the couple still keeps thanking us for providing the best service we can offer. We are so touched and grateful. We spent a lot of time photographing her baby girl and also some family photos. Happy to do so.
The photo above was a candid portrait that I took of the bride. For me, its much better looking and more natural than a portrait that were posed.
I ask the mom of the bride to put on the ear rings for the bride and took this photo.
The covering of the veil ceremony.
Why not, ask them to look at each other and got this image.
A photo with the bride's sister
Luckily, there are no crazy games during the gate crashing. Just some simple and decent games. Nothing like eating worms or dangerous stunts. And also because we are at a hotel, we can't make too much noise.
A fun but matured games. Some Yoga and singing songs. Thank God no bugs and crazy stuff eating and 18sx stuff.
As usual, my wife will be stationed inside the bride's room and I will be outside photographing the games and the things that are happening. These photos and video will be very meaningful to the bride because she is unable to see what is happening outside the bride's room during this time. Bride's will certainly be looking forward and excited to see it during the dinner reception when we prepare the same day edit video.
This is when a second photographer comes in handy. In this case, my wife. Otherwise we will missed all the moments above.
When the groom finally gets into the brides room and pass all the test.
I love those picture above because of the way the bride is smiling and looking at the groom. Can't put a price on a genuine smile.
Oh and how can we forget a couple portrait session. Here is like a paparazzi situation where everyone is taking our their phones to get a photo.
While waiting for the preparation of the tea ceremony. I notice the groom was just sanding there and hence the photo above. Not sure what is he thinking about but one of the genuine cool serious photo look nonetheless.
Can't help by noticing an empty chair next to the brides mom during the tea ceremony. Sad.
Group and family photos. For me, its one of the most important thing here and every time I notice the couple will always forget to do it and its my job to constantly remind them.
Some couple portrait whenever we have the opportunity. Can;t get enough of it.
This photo above was just show instantly. No pose nothing. What happen was the bride was just standing there waiting for the car. She was holding her gown up and naturally posing there. And I just say "Smiiillleeeee" and got this photo.
Very seldom I see a father being this close to his son. I wouldn't expected my dad to hold my hand and pat me on the shoulder. It just wont happen. It was very touching and glad we captured it.
And as usual we will have plenty of photos of the tea ceremony and also family and group photos.
Veil removing ceremony.
Veil tossing ritual. Not sure what does it symbolize but all of the Chinese Wedding we did does it.
The removing of the groom suit as the closing of the wedding. A sigh of relax and makan time.
It was certainly one of the most calm and relaxed wedding day we have done.
Every wedding is unique and moments are always there to be captured. I am always looking out for moments. I don't actually spend to much time on setting up the most artistic shot in the world just to make my portfolio look nice. You will see me spending most of the time observing and concentrating on you, infact sometime starring at you to capture the precise moments when it happens. What my aim is to get genuine smile and genuine expression and reaction. Mom's smiling, mom and bride hugging while dad is looking at them emotionally. Those to me, is much more meaningful and priceless.
Hiring a wedding photographer in my honest opinion is not just the money factor. Yes, it is one of the main factor to decide. But client must also look into the relationship part. One of the most important factor is also to choose a photographer that your are comfortable to work with. As I always tell my clients. your need to be comfortable with me around you and sometimes even very closed to you most of the time. As I will be the one that will spend most of the time with you during your wedding day. I always suggest to our clients that we need to build a friendship first before anything else. To know more about each other. That way, hopefully you wont feel uneasy when we are around during your wedding day.
